Why does this blog exist??
This blog has been created in the wake of the Aurora, Colorado tragedy in an attempt to address (or counter) the media's endless use of the term "Assault Weapon". The term "Assault" by definition is an offensive action. There are millions of gun owners across the United States that own "Defensive" Firearms that the media classifies as "Assault" weapons. These defensive firearms are enjoyed by their owners, some on a daily basis, and are not used to commit crimes. The guns themselves cannot commit crimes, it's the action of people who commit crimes.We invite you to join us in our journey to discuss and spread the word that Defensive Firearms are not the root of all evil, as many Anti-gun activists would have you believe.

Well said. There are a lot of misguided opinions on personal firearms. I personally don't own any but I am not anti gun. Everyone loves to point fingers especially when tragedy happens. Guns don't kill people alone. Criminals, disturbed people and those who don't properly maintain and store their weapons do. It's more about safety and education than it is about 'gun control.' I look forward to reading more.
